Mission Statement
Providence Classical School equips students to pursue any endeavor and to serve their community as Christian leaders.
History
Providence Classical School was founded in 1996. It is a private Christian school employing a classical and traditional philosophy of education. The school began with kindergarten and added a grade every year until graduating its first high school class in 2009.
General Information
Enrollment: Providence Classical School enrolls students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The elementary school has 106 students and the secondary has 62 students, for a total of 168 students.
Memberships: Providence Classical School is a member of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
Faculty: The highly-qualified faculty of Providence Classical School consists of 20 full-time professional teachers. Many hold master’s degrees in their subject areas. Teachers are certified through the Association of Christian Schools International. The average student-to-teacher ratio is 10 to 1.

- The average ACT score for PCS high school students is 26.

Academics
Curriculum: Providence Classical School offers a college preparatory program of study with higher-level courses and advanced teaching in most classes. These courses are provided to all students. The curriculum employs academically strong, structured studies in:
- Higher math, including Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Pre-calculus and Calculus
- Advanced science, including Chemistry and Advanced Chemistry, Physics and Advanced Physics, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Creation Science
- British, American and modern classical literature
- Critical thinking and expression, both written and oral
- Rhetoric, Logic and Philosophy courses
- Cultural, Biblical and textual analysis of content and of the author’s worldview in literature and history
- Oral and written presentation and defense of theses
- Advanced training in all types of writing:
- Essays weekly in literature, history and apologetics
- Technical papers in advanced science and math
- Research papers
- Theses
- Poetry analysis and writing
- Journalism and reporting
- Worldview and theological analysis and expression in apologetics courses
- Latin courses (6 years) which promote mastery of the English language and provide a foundation for other foreign languages, including courses offered in high school Spanish I and II
- Biblical worldview support in all courses
- Participation in the Nehemiah Institute Peers Testing for Biblical Worldview
- Students are eligible to sit for Advanced Placement testing
Course Credits: Students graduating from high school at Providence Classical School will have completed the required 26 total credits consisting of:
- 4 each in math, science, English and history
- 2 in foreign language—Latin, Greek or Spanish
- Rhetoric, Apologetics and Logic
- Health and physical education
- Fine arts and computer applications
- Government and civics
Grade Scale: Teachers for all classes use the following 10-point grading scale:
- A=90-100
- B=80-89
- C=70-79
- F=69 and below
Grade Point Average: - PCS uses a 4.0 unweighted scale to calculate GPA
- GPA is calculated for all classes in grades 9-12
Extracurricular Involvement
Leadership opportunities:
- Student-led yearbook staff, Journalism Club, literary magazine, video yearbook and Drama Club
- Student Government
- Student-led assembly
- Student-led lunch prayers and monthly high school devotional breakfasts
- Student hosts and hostesses at PCS events
Interpersonal Skills Development:
- Yearbook Club—designing, writing and distributing the PCS yearbook
- Journalism Club—broadening and improving writing skills by producing a student newsletter
- Drama Club--planning, preparing, memorizing and performing classic productions
Physical Fitness:
- The President’s Physical Fitness Challenge Program
- PCS volleyball team for girls in grades 7-12
- PCS basketball team for boys in grades 7-12
- Girls’ basketball and softball and boys’ baseball offered through Covenant Christian Academy, with football through the Freedom Academy Cowboys Football Club
